Manchester Metropolitan University offers the opportunity to study games at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Undergraduate Study
The School of Digital Arts (SODA) offers a range of units on games including the BA (Hons) Games Art and the BSc (Hons) Games Design. Within the Department of English we offer undergraduate units on reading and writing Games, and the option to pursue projects in game design in the final year of study. Our RISE programme, open to students and the wider public, offers free-to-access modules on game design.
Postgraduate Study
We offer doctoral supervision on all aspects of games and game cultures, both analogue and digital, from ancient Egypt to the present day. Our work ranges across disciplines, including games design, history, literature, sociology, science communication, and education. If you would like to undertake PhD study on games and play, it may be possible to apply for funding through the AHRC consortium for the North West. Details can be found on the North West Consortium Doctoral Training Partnership website.
